It's good to hear from you Shirlee, and yes, I don't have much impetus to travel now. I like being home. It's dry and sunny here. I'm going through books and stuff. I can't believe how much I saved from our China year, everything from plane tickets, to brochures, to newspaper articles and of course, books, magazines, artifacts. I'm giving them to a total immersion in Chinese school in Fort Collins and to a friend who is studying Chinese. It's great to have the time to go through this material and to give it away.

That is so very true of Bernie! Every day I see reasons why he should be our President. WHAT a difference that would have made! Bernie may be the person in the world whom I most admire. He's clear, he doesn't let his ego get in the way, and he really cares so much. And there he is, working day after day. Did you know he's going back on the road, and he's going to states no one in the parties ever goes to. May he stay safe. We need him and he deserves kindness.

I did manage to hand-decorate four candles and get them mailed out. My best friend's son's four children are ALL getting baptised at the Easter Vigil on Saturday evening at a cathedral we used to attend in our 20's. Since I make baptism candles for a church, I very much wanted to make them for these four, whom I've watched grow up (so far). I think they are between the ages of 13 and 7. Pretty sweet. Wish I could be there but it's two states away.
"Retirement is GRAND!" I am definitely looking forward to both Bill and myself being retired.
"Get well, Listener." Working on it! My voice is returning!! The antibiotic qualities may have helped. I think the best thing I did was drink a concoction of 2T apple cider vinegar + 1T honey + 1/2 cup water. You let it sit for 4+ hours and it thickens nicely and is so soothing!
My dearest friend is visiting her daughter and grandchildren on the North Island of New Zealand, and they just got hammered by Cyclone Cook. Waiting to hear if they lost any ents. At least they, themselves, are in a safe spot. But wow!

Happy Easter All! Lovely day here. Brenda will be along in a bit with groceries, supplies and dinner. Thinking of Pat...I know first holidays without your love are hard...well it was for me...partially because Vic loved them so much....
A nice Easter here. They opened our Highway 34 all day and until tomorrow morning at 8:30 AM, so my trip to Fort Collins was about 45 minutes, not the three hour trip to go via Highway 36. My daughter-in-law's mother and father hosted all of us, my sons and their families and a neighbor, and me. My granddaughter, 8 year old Ella greeted me with, "Grandma, Grandpa could be standing right here with us now. We just can't see him. I saw on TV that matter and energy don't disappear; they just transform." I said, "Ella, you are so smart. That was just what I was reading last night, and it comforted me." Talk about intuitive!
The food was delicious: ham, potatoes au gratin, sweet peas, rolls, salad, cake that Ella decorated. They had an egg hunt outside, and everything was in bloom: apple trees, cherry trees, tulips, flowers and green grass; whereas here, it's still pretty brown.
A fine day, a kind day, a good day, and my wishes are that it is true for you also. Thank you, Shirlee, for you kind thoughts.
It's Boston Marathon Day aka Patriots Day! PhD*Son is running in the first wave. It's going to be grueling for the runners with beating sunshine and hitting 71°F for Heartbreak Hill. The saving grace may be a west wind blowing 14-17mph, since they're running east. 🐰
PhD*Son ran the marathon with his best time yet! 2:58:38! That's amazing given that it was so hot he couldn't feel the wind at all. I tracked his course and was most impressed that he poured on the steam for the last 5 miles or so! 26.2miles (more than 40km) is a long race in heat. 🐰 He's rather fast!
Dear Pat, I am so glad it was a kind day and that the comfort you needed came from your granddaughter Ella! She is quite spiritually awake for age 8. A sweet, bright light and clearly a chip off the old block. ♡ And when better than to consider the transformation of matter into energy than on Easter Day? About politics: nothing seems coherent, sensible, worth even listening to. Trump and cohorts defy everything that made us feel like a generous, honest, and solid people. I wonder when we'll start to see a change. I can't help but think so much of this dysfunction came with Mitch McConnel's pledge to work to destroy Obama's presidency. It's such a nasty, mean minded, destructive stance, and somehow he was re-elected. I hope that our best selves will return to the dialogue, that compassion, generosity, honesty, and inclusion will regain the stage.

I'm glad you are recovering, Listener. I've read that particulates in the air are a possibility causing respiratory problems. I'm still dealing with sinuses: stuffy nose, thick phlegm in my throat. Denver and Fort Collins have some of the worst air in the country with respect to ozone pollution. Denver at 8 and Fort Collins at 15 in a ranking of worst. And to think one of the attributes that encouraged our move to Colorado was the clean air and the many forests and mountains.
Hi Shirlee. Yes, I do wish Trump and cohorts would disappear. I read an old article in The Atlantic Monthly by Francis Fukuyama about the major changes in our society. He divides the social evolution into three periods: the farming/peasant era, the industrialization era, and the information age. Our time, beginning in the 60s, meant loss of industrial jobs, greater individuality, less equality, less person-to-person contact and community. Also, greater anxiety, less kinship based relationships, and distrust of government. Now, what's the remedy? I just don't know.
Everything is fine here, though I'm feeling the loneliness and loss. The more I hae to do, the less I focus on this, but it's there. Life is precious, to enjoy in whatever way we can each day helps I think.

Hallo Pat, So far Vermont has clean air, but with DT in office and deregulation underway of power plants in the midwest, we are sure to see pollution returning, as it was before the regulations were put in place. WHY are Denver and Fort Collins the worst in the country? Is it primarily industry? Are they in a bowl among mountains such that polluted air hangs low in the valley? I am definitely sensitive to smoke and other pollutants. So far, though, I think this ailment was a virus that I got and no one else got because they have stronger immune systems. Once I upped my vitamins and added Olive Leaf I started getting well. It helped to gargle with salt water, but it really helped to sip apple cider vinegar and honey in water. Lemon water also helps clear impurities out of one's liver. It's not instantaneous the way medicines work, but persistence seems to have paid off.
Yes, yes, being aware of the beauty in each day is a gift that honours life...including the life of one with whom we have so often appreciated that beauty.💖

Hi Listener, my thinking is that the fracking and gas wells are responsible for the methane, and as for the ozone, we have have thinner air because of our altitude, lots of traffic, and a growing population. Thanks for the palliative suggestions. I gargled with salt water last night, and I take Emergen C, a supplement with 1000 mg. of vitamin C. Cider vinegar with honey sounds good as well. I'm glad you are mending.
It's interesting that when we don't feel good, how much that impacts the day. But, today feels like a good day. I'm wondering if maybe the awfulness, the horror of Trump, may in the long run, bring us together in defense of the earth, in support for equality, freedom, fairness, and compassion. There are over 600 marches and rallies scheduled for today for science and the earth. Could something as horrible as Trump be the very catalyst we need? Just wondering.
March for Science... I couldn't march because it was rainy here and I am still trying to get over this mean ol' bug...feels like I could lose my voice again if I'm not careful. But we made donations to Manomet Center for Conservation Sciences and Blue Ocean Society.
I have had similar thoughts about President Catalyst. Just back from vacation with daughter and grand. We went to LV to celebrate Kimberly's 50th birthday and Molly's 13th . Two milestone bdays. Went to the King Arthur Show and the Cirq Michael Jackson Show. Molly loved both!

We're having a week like that (though not milestones).
VT*Grandson (Rowan) turns 4 on Wednesday and Bill (Grandad) turns 62 on Saturday!

Good day here in Greensboro......sunny skies and walkable weather.
I didn't go out.....Wednesday is massage therapist day....keeps my
cranky neck, inflamed shoulder....and per physical therapist... continues
to massage lower leg muscles. After he leaves I have a good nap!
Tomorrow and Saturday promising for a walk.
Any news from Puddle and her connection?
