But Sanders is winning Idaho 78-21 with 100 percent reporting, which extrapolates to 18 delegates for Sanders and 5 for Clinton (+13 for Sanders). And he’s winning Utah 74-25 with 15 percent reporting, which extrapolates to 24 delegates for Sanders and 8 for Clinton (+16 for Sanders). Adding everything up, that’s a net +14 for Sanders on the night …

And I am noting that CNN and other media are saying Hillary had "the big win" in Arizona and that Bernie had "morale boosting" winds in Idaho and Utah. Arizona was a MESS on Primary day, with long ones, FIVE HOUR waits to vote, and people being told they are not on the list. Even people who were lifelong Dems were told they were listed as R or I …!! Crazy! This needs to be investigated!!
Barb, I watched the numbers slowly change as the votes came in. At one point Bernie had 40%. I think the strange postings were more a matter of people not changing all the fields when they updated. The whole state botched the election, with poorly trained election workers, software issues and worse. It would have been less confusing and taken less time if they'd chucked all lists and just let people write this choices on plain paper. Speaking as an election official, this was unconscionable!!

The audibly said that it was too early for numbers, but that graphic was already up. I was surprised at that high a percentage when the polls had just closed. Our best winter storm yet: a blizzard, two feet of snow, no power for 23 hours. We went to bed in our clothes, wearing hats, jackets, scarves, curling up under down blankets, and at 8:15 this morning, POWER! How much of our lives run on electricity: water, toilets, heat, phone, computer, stove, refrigerator, lights, coffee, food, etc.
Who'd a thought such joy in returning power.
I think Bernie is the only one who offers us a return to community, fairness, inclusion, representation of all citizens, and the idea of the common good. We have come so far from that, and I think it began with Reagan, the propaganda that united the evangelicals and the ultra conservatives. We've lost so much, and I don't know of any other candidate that can help us rebuild and remake.

Pat, the first few years I lived here, I always had multiples--propane/electric/wood for heating, and oil lamps. Do you have propane? Can you get it? Was hearing about your blizzard this morning as I was falling asleep, and was sending you love and light! Hang in.
Thank you dear heart. We have propane stoves with fake logs. We are looking into a whole house generator as backup. We have a lantern on battery, several candles, and a gas stove that we can light with a firestarter. But, when it gets down to 50 degrees in the house, it's too cold. There are people off the grid here who have back up generators, but we are still on the grid, and I'm not sure our house would be a good candidate for total solar power, though we do have solar panels for our electric water heater. Ah well.
I've been out shoveling. It's about 45 degrees and melting, though more snow predicted for tonight. Ah, springtime in the Rockies. You know, Hawaii, Florida, Arizoan look more appealing all the time. A smile for you. Love your way.
Barb, yeah, I've been reading up on the fiasco in Arizona. Monkey business, and it continues, with issues arising in New York and Alaska. The petition needed 100,000 signatures by April 21st. By this evening it had 125,455 and counting!
We used to make power outages into special occasions, picnic in the living room, telling stories in the dark, etc.. But we also had a wood or propane stove to stay warm by...except the year our pipes froze and we only had a wood cook stove. We had a few nights that were definitely too cold, and that is not fun. I did like sitting by the cook stove for our read alouds, though.
All quiet here in GSO! Listener, I think you New Englanders must be born with cold proof genes! I was born in Michigan and lived there until my late fifties...with vacations in Texas to visit relatives. Ahhhh! learned one does not need to be cold from October to May! Bailed out after my responsibilities there were finished. Back to moderate mid south climate! Perfect for aging...for me!

Overcast day here, but warm. I went walking with the mountain women, and we're in Mudville. Ah springtime in the Rockies.
We had a wonderful dinner at our son's home, they cured a ham themselves, a fruit salad arranged so it looked like a birds nest with lemon almond eggs, baked beans, pecan pie, oh, it was a delicious meal with other side dishes. It was fun to be together.
Well, Bernie seems to be taken more seriously now by the media. Here's hoping.
Easter here was quite nice. On Saturday we drove 1.5hrs to the church I made the Pascal Candle for. Meeting their new priest for the first time, I was a little overwhelmed by her extrovertedness, but she's really nice. She asked me (no longer a member there) to read one of the evening readings, though she wasn't sure which one, could be the third one, but would let me know. Bill and I quickly discovered that the candle they'd ordered was a good 1/4" larger than the hole in the candle holder. So he found a kitchen knife and set to work whittling it down to size. That took a half hour, but we got the deed done. We went out to dinner. The priest never told me which reading, but as people got up to read for the first and second readings, and there were three readings, I simply went up and read the third. Funny. It was the reading from Ezekiel about The Valley of Dry Bones. I read it through before we left for dinner, but otherwise was reading it cold…in a darkened church, with one light on at the lectern. And it came out fine, so I guess I haven't lost my touch, honed over the decade I was in the ordination process. "Mortal, can these bones live?" Sounds a lot like the political process, doesn't it? ;-) Anyway, the Candle was well received, and the service was good to be present for.
Then on Sunday our Youngest and his wife and two grands came over for Easter Dinner and fun. They even brought a Bunny Cake they'd made. :-) It was a good time. Then! We learned that Daughter in Maine has found a Nanny for her wee lad! This is so good as she is a single-parent-by-choice and will be going back to her high level executive job in May. The Nanny is from the next town over, is 25, has a degree in Anthropology with minors in Conservation and Early Childhood Ed. She's been working for a day care but doesn't like the frenetic aspects. It seems a very good match, and Daughter will provide a good salary and help her have healthcare coverage too. Between now and May, Nanny will come one day a week so Grandbaby can get to know her and Daughter can begin to have some time to herself. Good for everybody! :-)
All that and Bernie won by landslides in all three states over the weekend! Laaaaaaaaaa! I found myself unable to sleep because I was so happy I could just lie there with a big grin on my face! :-D Definitely a special weekend for the life calendar. ♡
NOTE: I'd always wondered why priests tend to use a flashlight instead of the lectern light for the Easter Vigil readings. I found out why! When you walk up to the lectern you turn on the light and read, then turn off the light. Well, let me tell you, when you have just had a light in your face for several minutes in a darkened room, then you turn off the light and turn to walk back to your seat, you cannot see a single thing at all. It takes more than a minute for your eyes to readjust to the dark and until they do the world is black and you cannot see the floor. I walked toward the center, bowed toward the altar to give my eyes more time, then had to reach for the stair rail to go down the few steps because I still could not see. Yikes! With a flashlight, though, the light is pointed down at the book and not into your eyes, so you recover faster. Lesson learned!

They're all going to be toast! Hopefully the truly soulful and loving people of the Universe will stand up, now that we have a worthy leader in Bernie, and make change! In so doing, it may be that we can stem the tide of destruction. If we can minimise the damage the cruel souls are causing, we just might save their souls at the same time. That is, to whatever extent the scales of St. Peter will show how much good a person has done and how much destruction they have wrought, if we can curb their cruelty we just might reduce the pile of destruction on the scale when they are measured. Why would I want to do that, you ask? Why wouldn't I want to watch them burn for all eternity in the fires of hell for what they have done? It's because each of them is a spark of God gone awry. It's not so much for their sake as for the Wholeness of the Universe. I want good to be the outcome, even for their sakes, to save my own soul alive. But if I could have my druthers, I'd also turn each of them into a good soul. Then they'd recognise what they have been doing and how destructive it is! And that realisation would serve them exactly right. We can't go on into nirvana without bringing all sentient beings along with us, can we? But, some days, they sure make that a YUGE job!!
Snow predicted yesterday, but just some skiffs, no real accumulation. It seems that it went north of us in Wyoming where they got over a foot.

And so we continue on with our uncertain and volatile spring. So much change, and I think we humans dislike and fear change. I know that when I talk to Storm Mountain residents, we're still somewhat unsettled after the floods of 2013, more than two years ago. And, with respect to technology, communication, culture changes, weather volatility, uncertainty, no wonder we have bizarre candidates like Trump and Cruz. Yes, I think that Bernie offers us what we most need: a return to a sense of the common good, community, integrity, courage in standing for principles, and a sense that we are all in this together and when someone endures pain, injustice, we all are affected. I hope that Bernie will be the candidate, and that he will be elected President. How much we need what he brings.

Pat, the first few years I lived here, I always had multiples--propane/electric/wood for heating, and oil lamps. Do you have propane? Can you get it? Was hearing about your blizzard this morning as I was falling asleep, and was sending you love and light! Hang in.

Thank you dear heart. We have propane stoves with fake logs. We are looking into a whole house generator as backup. We have a lantern on battery, several candles, and a gas stove that we can light with a firestarter. But, when it gets down to 50 degrees in the house, it's too cold. There are people off the grid here who have back up generators, but we are still on the grid, and I'm not sure our house would be a good candidate for total solar power, though we do have solar panels for our electric water heater. Ah well.
I've been out shoveling. It's about 45 degrees and melting, though more snow predicted for tonight. Ah, springtime in the Rockies. You know, Hawaii, Florida, Arizoan look more appealing all the time. A smile for you. Love your way.
Barb, yeah, I've been reading up on the fiasco in Arizona. Monkey business, and it continues, with issues arising in New York and Alaska. The petition needed 100,000 signatures by April 21st. By this evening it had 125,455 and counting!

We used to make power outages into special occasions, picnic in the living room, telling stories in the dark, etc.. But we also had a wood or propane stove to stay warm by...except the year our pipes froze and we only had a wood cook stove. We had a few nights that were definitely too cold, and that is not fun. I did like sitting by the cook stove for our read alouds, though.
May it all melt soon.
All quiet here in GSO! Listener, I think you New Englanders must be born with
cold proof genes! I was born in Michigan and lived there until my late fifties...with
vacations in Texas to visit relatives. Ahhhh! learned one does not need to be cold
from October to May! Bailed out after my responsibilities there were finished.

Overcast day here, but warm. I went walking with the mountain women, and we're in Mudville. Ah springtime in the Rockies.
We had a wonderful dinner at our son's home, they cured a ham themselves, a fruit salad arranged so it looked like a birds nest with lemon almond eggs, baked beans, pecan pie, oh, it was a delicious meal with other side dishes. It was fun to be together.
Well, Bernie seems to be taken more seriously now by the media. Here's hoping.

Easter here was quite nice. On Saturday we drove 1.5hrs to the church I made the Pascal Candle for. Meeting their new priest for the first time, I was a little overwhelmed by her extrovertedness, but she's really nice. She asked me (no longer a member there) to read one of the evening readings, though she wasn't sure which one, could be the third one, but would let me know. Bill and I quickly discovered that the candle they'd ordered was a good 1/4" larger than the hole in the candle holder. So he found a kitchen knife and set to work whittling it down to size. That took a half hour, but we got the deed done. We went out to dinner. The priest never told me which reading, but as people got up to read for the first and second readings, and there were three readings, I simply went up and read the third. Funny. It was the reading from Ezekiel about The Valley of Dry Bones. I read it through before we left for dinner, but otherwise was reading it cold…in a darkened church, with one light on at the lectern. And it came out fine, so I guess I haven't lost my touch, honed over the decade I was in the ordination process. "Mortal, can these bones live?" Sounds a lot like the political process, doesn't it? ;-) Anyway, the Candle was well received, and the service was good to be present for.
Then on Sunday our Youngest and his wife and two grands came over for Easter Dinner and fun. They even brought a Bunny Cake they'd made. :-) It was a good time. Then! We learned that Daughter in Maine has found a Nanny for her wee lad! This is so good as she is a single-parent-by-choice and will be going back to her high level executive job in May. The Nanny is from the next town over, is 25, has a degree in Anthropology with minors in Conservation and Early Childhood Ed. She's been working for a day care but doesn't like the frenetic aspects. It seems a very good match, and Daughter will provide a good salary and help her have healthcare coverage too. Between now and May, Nanny will come one day a week so Grandbaby can get to know her and Daughter can begin to have some time to herself. Good for everybody! :-)
All that and Bernie won by landslides in all three states over the weekend! Laaaaaaaaaa! I found myself unable to sleep because I was so happy I could just lie there with a big grin on my face! :-D Definitely a special weekend for the life calendar. ♡
NOTE: I'd always wondered why priests tend to use a flashlight instead of the lectern light for the Easter Vigil readings. I found out why! When you walk up to the lectern you turn on the light and read, then turn off the light. Well, let me tell you, when you have just had a light in your face for several minutes in a darkened room, then you turn off the light and turn to walk back to your seat, you cannot see a single thing at all. It takes more than a minute for your eyes to readjust to the dark and until they do the world is black and you cannot see the floor. I walked toward the center, bowed toward the altar to give my eyes more time, then had to reach for the stair rail to go down the few steps because I still could not see. Yikes! With a flashlight, though, the light is pointed down at the book and not into your eyes, so you recover faster. Lesson learned!

Ah, but that's just the thing, Shirlee. The Republicans do in fact have a soul. And they will, one by one, have to stand before God. And that is why the arc of the Universe bends towards justice. They're all going to be toast! Hopefully the truly soulful and loving people of the Universe will stand up, now that we have a worthy leader in Bernie, and make change! In so doing, it may be that we can stem the tide of destruction. If we can minimise the damage the cruel souls are causing, we just might save their souls at the same time. That is, to whatever extent the scales of St. Peter will show how much good a person has done and how much destruction they have wrought, if we can curb their cruelty we just might reduce the pile of destruction on the scale when they are measured. Why would I want to do that, you ask? Why wouldn't I want to watch them burn for all eternity in the fires of hell for what they have done? It's because each of them is a spark of God gone awry. It's not so much for their sake as for the Wholeness of the Universe. I want good to be the outcome, even for their sakes, to save my own soul alive. But if I could have my druthers, I'd also turn each of them into a good soul. Then they'd recognise what they have been doing and how destructive it is! And that realisation would serve them exactly right. We can't go on into nirvana without bringing all sentient beings along with us, can we? But, some days, they sure make that a YUGE job!!

And so we continue on with our uncertain and volatile spring. So much change, and I think we humans dislike and fear change. I know that when I talk to Storm Mountain residents, we're still somewhat unsettled after the floods of 2013, more than two years ago. And, with respect to technology, communication, culture changes, weather volatility, uncertainty, no wonder we have bizarre candidates like Trump and Cruz. Yes, I think that Bernie offers us what we most need: a return to a sense of the common good, community, integrity, courage in standing for principles, and a sense that we are all in this together and when someone endures pain, injustice, we all are affected. I hope that Bernie will be the candidate, and that he will be elected President. How much we need what he brings.

A friend sent me an article by Paul Krugman about Obama's accomplishments and rising poll numbers. He also says that Trump could be the nominee, and Bernie Sanders cannot win an election here. I wonder. What is it that people simply cannot see Bernie Sanders as the nominee and eventual president? Hmmm.
